Maca Choc Truffles

Yesterday I made some awesome Maca Choc Truffles that were so delicious they were all eaten straight away! These ones are so simple and make an awesome energy snack or a clean treat for when you are craving something sweet!
Now before I post the recipe I just want to quickly go over what is Maca and what are some of those potential health benefits?

High Protein Recipes

Well Maca actually comes from a root that belongs in the radish family that was traditionally grown in the mountains of Peru. It’s rich in vitamin B, C and E as well as high in calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, phosphorous and amino acids.

Its potentially great for increasing energy and stamina, good for skin issues as it has been known to help clear up acne and blemishes and can help alleviate anxiety, stress, depression and balance out mood swings.

It can also have a beneficial effect on your libido and help with menstrual issues such as cramps and body pain and can help balance out your hormones.

So how can we use maca?

Well my favorite ways to use maca are to add it to a protein shake or to a yummy chocolate truffle. Let me show you how.

Protein Shake

This one is great for after a workout however it can be made without the protein powder if you didn’t want to add that it. I would just add a whole banana instead.
2 cups of almond milk
1 tablespoon raw cacao
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tablespoon maca powder –
start with ½ tablespoon if you have never had maca before as it does have a distingtive malty taste that can take a bit of getting used to.

Maca Choc Truffle

1 cup of pitted medjool dates (126g)
1 cup walnuts (105g)
2 tablespoons raw cacao (20g)
1 tablespoon maca (10g)
coconut to roll the truffles in (10g)

High Protein RecipesJust add the dates, nuts, cacao and maca powder into a blender and mix together
then simply roll into balls
and roll these balls in some coconut
This recipe makes 8 balls each with 158.3 calories, 14.9g carbs (11.1g sugar & 2g fibre), 3.1g protein and 10.1g fat.
